York Disabled Workers Co-op is a not for profit social enterprise. We are a very small organisation owned by disabled workers run by disabled workers. Our organisation was set up on the back of the closure of York Remploy factory.
Our mission is to provide work and training opportunities, in a small friendly environment. We also aim to provide an apprenticeship opportunity, that can provide the skills and experience to support a disabled worker into work.
Our board are made up of paid and unpaid directors, most of whom work in the business. We are proud to say we are supported by a number of trade unions, as well as social enterprises, voluntary groups and committed individuals, who share our values.
“At the YDWC we aim to make quality wooden products and garden furniture using recycled materials”
At the YDWC we aim to make quality wooden products and garden furniture using recycled materials and wood that’s been reclaimed and donated from wood manufacturers. Guaranteeing that not only will our hand made craft products make a great addition to your garden, but you can rest assured that they will be environmentally friendly and good value.
Over the last twelve months we’ve developed more products aimed at the trade union movement, from placards and badges to our highly successful range of marching banners, specially made to order, so each one is unique in its design and aimed at celebrating the Trade Union movement.
